Say “Boo” to Candy Wrappers in Landfills

Did you know that more than 600 million pounds of candy are purchased each year to celebrate Halloween in the United States? Here’s a spookier thought: the majority of those candy wrappers end up in landfills because regular single-stream or curbside recycling pick-up are not able to accept them.
Don’t fret! The Office of Sustainability has a treat for you this Halloween season to help keep UT Dallas eco-friendly. We have ordered a candy wrapper recycling box and will be hosting two Trick or Trash events on-campus. Students will have the opportunity to stop by our table at The Plinth to recycle candy wrappers, learn more about our programs, and get involved.
See the schedule for the Trick or Trash events below at the SU Mall:
Tuesday, November 2nd from 12-1PM
Friday, November 5th from 10-12 PM
